On sports media: Twins expected to announce deals with Xfinity, DirecTV and other providers to carry games
It also appears as if the Twins will have a package of games on over-the-air television, although that announcement likely will come at a later date.
Things are trending in the right direction for those who want to watch the Twins on television this season but don’t want to pay for the direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming option.
With the Twins set to open on Thursday in St. Louis, it’s expected an announcement will be made Wednesday regarding the distribution of Twins.TV on DirecTV, Xfinity, Midco, Charter/Spectrum, Mediacom, Fubo and other carriers. This will include what channel you can find Twins.TV on the various systems.
Twins.TV is expected to be on the same type of sports tier as FanDuel Sports Network, which was the home of the Twins under a variety of names (Fox Sports, Bally Sports) through last season.
The Twins, whose television rights negotiations are being handled by Major League Baseball, also are expected to have a package of Tuesday games on over-the-air television, according to Darren “Doogie” Wolfson of SKOR North and KSTP-TV in the Twin Cities. The Twins haven’t been on an over-the-air station since Ch. 29 had a package of Sunday games in 2010.
